Disco Devil / DJ Vadim

I love DJ Vadim, a Russian dj whose musical influences include some of my favorite hip hop and Jamaican artists, such as Lee Perry and Alton Ellis, as well as King Tubby. He posted this awesome Lee Perry song, which is new to me, on his blog. If I’d been familiar with Vadim when I still had a radio show I would’ve played him all the time.

I am now the proud owner of an original John Kilduff.

Won at auction after his live performance at ISSUE Project Room last night. Watch this video of John, unless you don’t want to see psychedelic visuals of a guy who runs on a treadmill, paints, gives self-help advice, blends a smoothie, and tries to pronounce the word meringue all at the same time. In which case you would be a sucka mc.

A dedication to you wack MCs

Greetings to all.

After much ado, I’ve started a blog. Not everything you’ll find here will be wack, but a lot of it will. In addition to some non-wack stuff, I’ll be posting links to lots of wack sites, sounds, and images, along with musings on the avant garde arts scene and homespun food and drink recipes, all straight outta BedStuy, my ghetto fabulous Brooklyn neighborhood.

PS It’s worth noting that this song by Del Tha Funkee Homosapien, one of my hip hop icons, is not the slightest bit wack. It’s actually awesome.
